Got a beautiful shot of Fortune Green in bloom, a candid moment from one of our events, or a snap of the community out caring for the space? We'd love to feature it in our gallery — send us your photos of the Green throughout the seasons, in the middle of a clean-up, or simply being enjoyed, and help us tell the story of Fortune Green through the eyes of the people who love it.

Why try to explain miracles to our kids when you can just have them plant a garden."

A Closer Look at the Planting

The double borders either side of the path by Alfred Court were planted in a relaxed, low-maintenance "new perennial" style, chosen to be as good for pollinators as it is to look at:
-
Structural plants & grasses: Sedum, Phlomis, Vernonia crinita, Miscanthus, Panicum, Calamagrostis
-
Perennials: Aster, Hemerocallis, Salvia, Geranium, Nepeta, Calamintha
-
Spring interest near the entrances: Epimedium, Euphorbia, Hellebores, underplanted with shrubs like Hamamelis, Hydrangea and Viburnum, plus bulbs for early colour
-
A native hedge of Blackthorn, Hawthorn and Viburnum at the back of the beds, to encourage wildlife
